The modulation methods of 256QAM and 64QAM can increase data rates in both uplink and downlink for LTE and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A). Rohde & Schwarz now offers these innovative methods on the R&S CMW500 broadband wireless communication tester.
256QAM and 64QAM modulation methods can increase data rates in both uplink and downlink for LTE and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A). Rohde & Schwarz now offers these innovative methods on the R&S CMW500 wideband wireless communication tester.
At the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Rohde & Schwarz demonstrated RF testing for LTE-Advanced downlink four-carrier carrier aggregation. This solution is accomplished by the CMWFlexx system, which includes two R&S CMW500 units and one CMWC controller. Each R&S CMW500 generates two 2x2 MIMO carriers using 256QAM modulation. The entire CMWFlexx system can achieve high data throughput of up to 800 Mbps in the downlink.
The development of the CMWC controller makes CMWflexx as easy to operate as the CMW500. Users have great flexibility, as the CMW500 can also be used independently. It also has other testing capabilities, such as uplink carrier aggregation, FDD/TDD combined operation, and 8X2 MIMO LTE 4CC.
In addition, Rohde & Schwarz also demonstrated RF testing for uplink 64QAM modulation on the CMW500. These modulation methods can effectively improve the data rate of the LTE uplink. The tests cover single carrier data throughput of 75 Mbps and 150 Mbps for LTE-Advanced uplink carrier aggregation combinations.
These and other Rohde & Schwarz LTE/LTE-Advanced solutions will be showcased at booth C40, Hall 6 of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
